Transitory Marilyns of Mynydd Betws & Y Garn (The Rhinogs)

Walk Summary
Due to distance living away from the hills I try to maximise every day to it's full potential.
Ideally I would walk every day but lessons from the past have shown me my body is no longer a machine, if it ever was, and therefore need to allow time for rest and recuperation to avoid injuries and even longer time rehabilitation.

One way is to identify easy hills close to roads that can be visited en-route to next accommodation base or isolated peaks that involve a short walk to include on the return journey home. Hence this is the first walk report that includes routes from two separate days.
Mynydd Bewys was passed on the way to Borth YHA from YHA Cardiff although it was a non descript summit and only 0.29 miles and 5m of ascent I still managed to include a visit to Penlle'r Castle. (Summit of the place of the castle)
Y Garn was included on the return journey back to Suffolk. I had hoped to also visit Pen y Brynfforchog but the car park on the A470 was full and double parked so at least know for a future trip this hill will need an early start.

Parking was fine at end of public road to Blaen-y-Cwm but very steep immediately after sharp bend just before Cae-gwernog. Ended up having to stop put on hand break and slowly let out clutch in first gear on low revs. Was in my campervan though. Most direct route is to walk up drive to Blaen-y-Cwm. I felt the ascent steep and grassy to fence on ridge above Foel Ddu and found it quite tough but it was at the end of a good trip where I had walked over 70miles with 5000m of ascent. Had planned to follow wall straight up from wood but this looked like it was over really rough ground so contoured south and took the route I did above Blaen-y-Cwm. (See route map notes) Only planned this in an effort to walk a circular route rather than an up and down the same way. Great views of Cadair Idris.
